Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?

I chose UTTyler because of the online capability of the MSN program. I needed a flexible style environment to complement my busy schedule. I knew that it was a reputable program and that was important to me. It was also more affordable than other online programs.

What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?

I am currently employed as the skills lab coordinator for Trinity Valley Community College-Palestine Vocational Nursing program. I went back to school to learn how to be a better nurse educator and to assume more responsibility from my current employer. This program has given me better instructional skills, assessment skills, and research capabilities in the nursing education area. It encouraged professional development and will give me the appropriate credentials to support my career ambitions.

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

I have genuinely been surprised at the ease of taking online courses. There was just enough structure to keep me on track but ample flexibility to make it manageable for my busy schedule. The professors were available when I needed help or had questions. I did have one course that required a clinical component and the UT Palestine branch was able to facilitate that need. I am amazed at the example my nursing professors have set on how Caring is still the biggest part of their nurse educator roles.
