Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?

I researched nursing doctoral programs across the country. It was important for me to find a program that was online, affordable, high quality, and with reasonable and timely graduation rates. UT Tyler was at the top of the list. While I was considering the UT Tyler program, I had a conversation with a trusted mentor about PhD programs. Before I could mention UT Tyler, my mentor recommended the program without hesitation. After that, the choice was easy.

What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?

My career goals include using informatics and data science principles to streamline healthcare delivery and reduce the burden clinicians experience while using technology. I plan to utilize the data generated from clinical systems to develop methods for identifying rare or difficult to recognize health conditions. The curriculum is designed to gradually build and apply knowledge in general and in the students’ specific areas of interest.

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

The faculty want students to succeed. They treat each student as an individual and as a colleague. Faculty are flexible, supportive, and encourage independent thinking. Expertise among faculty members is diverse and nationally recognized.
