The Honors Program at The University of Texas at Tyler is designed to provide an intellectually rigorous and innovative program for those students who love to be challenged and stimulated by new ideas, new ways of thinking and exciting interdisciplinary opportunities. Started in 2009, with only 24 students, the Honors program has witnessed tremendous growth over the past 10 years.
By participating in the Honors Program, students have the opportunity to learn with some of the university's most talented professors, join a vibrant learning community, and experience a global and dynamic education. Because of their diverse and enhanced collegiate experience, graduates of the Honors Program are among the most sought-after by employers and graduate schools.

The Great Plains Honors Council sponsors the Dennis Boe Award to showcase and reward outstanding scholarly work by the honors programs students. Boe Award presentations will occur on Saturday morning, April 6.
Deadline for submission: January 29, 2019
Students may submit an abstract for their proposed oral presentation. Oral presentations will occur the morning of Saturday, April 6. Deadline for submission: February 1, 2019

Paul Streufert is the founding director of the Honors Program at the University of Texas at Tyler and associate professor in the Department of Literature & Languages.
Paul earned his PhD in comparative literature at Purdue University in 2001, and his research interests include the dramatic literature of ancient Greece, early-modern England, and twentieth-century America. Paul is excited to host GPHC conference attendees as part of the tenth year celebration of the UT Tyler Honors Program.
Katie Stone has been in the Honors Coordinator role for almost three years. Before coming to the University of Texas at Tyler, Katie worked at Ithaca College as a Residence Director where she oversaw the Honors Residential Learning Community.
Katie is currently working on her PhD in Human Resources Development and Organizational Change. Her areas of interest are retention, work passion, and managerial coaching and gender. She is excited for everyone to experience the amazing talents and treasures of East Texas during GPHC this spring.
