Additional Programs
Department of Health and Kinesiology
In addition to its programs leading to academic degrees, the Department of Health and Kinesiology hosts the Lifespan Wellness Research Center.
- The Lifespan Wellness Research Center is both a facility and a program, designed to positively influence health-related
behaviors of individuals affiliated with the University and the wider community. The
program provides opportunities for research and hands-on learning experience for students.
Services offered by the Center include fitness testing, body composition assessment
and personal training. For more information contact the department at (903-566-7031,
hkdept@uttyler.edu).
- The Annual Physical Education Workshop: The Department hosts an annual Physical Education
Workshop featuring a nationally accomplished Physical Education Teacher as its facilitator
every second week of October. The participants are drawn from Physical Education Teachers
and Coaches in Upper East Texas; and PE Teacher Trainees from local Colleges and Universities.
The workshop features a stimulating assortment of fun-packed, educational games and
ideas not only focusing on participation and involvement for the large class, but
that intrigue, engage, and motivate students. The presentations provide all inclusive,
fun activities, which in turn minimize discipline problems and maximize participation.
All activities are hands-on and every participant is actively engaged. At the end
of the workshop, certificates are awarded to the successful participants. For more
