UT Tyler Honors Program

Applying as an Incoming Freshman

The Application Period for the 2021-22 Academic Year is open.

Every year, The University of Texas at Tyler Honors Program seeks highly motivated and academically talented high school seniors to join UT Tyler's prestigious Honors Program.

Candidates who wish to apply to the Honors Program for the fall of 2021 will need to complete an application, following the link below. The application consists of biographical and academic information and includes an essay. SAT/ACT scores are not required. Once the completed application has been received, applicants may be invited to interview with the Honors Committee. Interviews are predominately conducted via a remote medium such as Zoom. Please note that you will only be able to sign up for an interview after your completed application has been received.

The Honors Committee will review all completed applications. A candidate's application is evaluated holistically (High School GPA, essay, and interview) and is not based on any single metric.

The application deadline has been extended to March 15, 2021

Candidates will be notified no later than late March 2021 regarding their status in the Honors Program.

  • We encourage you to review this sample paper to guide your writing.
