Applying as an Incoming Freshman
Application Period for the 2017-18 Academic Year is Now Open!
The University of Texas at Tyler Honors Program seeks highly motivated and academically talented high school seniors.
Candidates who wish to apply to the Honors Program for the fall of 2017 will need to complete an application (see link below). The application consists of biographical and academic information and includes an essay. Once the completed application has been received, applicants may be invited to interview with the Honors Committee. Interviews are conducted via a remote medium: Skype, FaceTime or phone. Please note that you will only be able to sign up for an interview after your completed application has been received.
The Honors Committee will review all completed applications. A candidate's application is evaluated holistically and is not based on any single metric.
The priority deadline for all applications to be submitted is March 19, 2017.
Procedure for Applying
1. Fill out an application.
2. An Honors Program staff member will contact you within one to two business days after your submission regarding next steps in the process. Not all applicants will be interviewed.
3. Following an interview, an applicant will be notified by the decision dates listed below.
March 19, 2017: Priority deadline for all applications.
March 31, 2017: All applicant interviews must be completed.
April 10, 2017: All applicants will be notified of their status.
*Students can apply after the March 19 deadline. However, applications are evaluated on a rolling basis and space in the program is limited.
**For candidates interested in applying early, we offer an early admission option. In order to have their application considered for early admission, a candidate's application must be received by no later than Oct. 31, 2016. Candidates who apply early will receive an expedited evaluation of their application. Candidates who apply early will receive a decision by no later than Nov. 18, 2016.
