UT Tyler Honors Program
Global Quiz Night
Global Quiz Night is a campus-wide event in which teams of students compete against one another in a trivia bowl. Teams compete for over a $2,000 worth of prizes and the glory of being crowned Global Quiz Night Grand Champion.
The 9th annual Global Quiz Night will occur on October 29, 2020.
This year's Global Quiz Night will be held virtually, in a live, team-trivia experience. Hosted by Honors and co-sponsored by the University Archives, this is an event you will not want to miss!
The event begins at 6:00pm; links to join the game will be sent to each individual player prior to the 29th. All students will need internet access and a digital device in order to participate. Students in need of a device or internet should reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org prior to October 22, 2020.
The event consists of two halves, with a 10 minute intermission between. Each half has three rounds.
First Half Second Half
Round 1: Sports Round 4: Engineering & Technology
Round 2: History Round 5: Arts & Literature
Round 3: Math & Science Round 6: Popular Culture
Teams are comprised of 5-8 current UT Tyler students. Participants must be currently enrolled UT Tyler students (can be undergraduate or graduate students).
*There will be a mandatory team captain's meeting on Monday, October 26th (Zoom link given during registration).
Individual students are also welcome to attend the event, and must also register by October 27th.
The costume contest at Global Quiz Night ranks as one of the great traditions in the Honors Program. Though we will be playing the game remotely this year, we want to continue this tradition using social media to help crown the winner for this year’s best costume.
Rather than competing with team costumes as in years past, Global Quiz Night 2020 will feature voting on individual costumes. The process is simple:
(1) Design a costume that shows off your creativity. Costumes can be funny, scary, elaborate, ironic, or anything else you can think of. Please avoid insensitive or offensive images.
(2) Submit a photo of yourself in that costume to email@example.com no later than Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 5:00 pm. Be sure to include your name and a title for your costume. We will post the photos on the Honors Facebook page the next day.
(3) All participants in Global Quiz Night will receive a link to vote for the best costume. Voting will close at the end of intermission the night of the game.
(4) Winners will be announced at the end of the game that evening. Prizes will be awarded for the top costume, along with prizes for two surprise categories.
Good luck and see you at Global Quiz Night!
Please direct any questions or concerns to Katie Stone at firstname.lastname@example.org. We cannot wait to see you there!
