UT Tyler's Office of International Programs

The Office of International Programs (OIP) leads UT Tyler's international outreach by hosting events like International Fest, which allows students to share and teach about their home country to other students on campus and members of the community. Students and faculty/staff/scholars create informative posters and displays, wear traditional clothing, and perform live entertainment that represents their culture, while area restaurants serve up free samples of international fare. See information on other happenings with the OIP's Calendar of Events.

The OIP also assists students with obtaining and maintaining proper insurance, facilitates international study and research, and promotes and encourages student organizations on campus.

The Intensive English Language Institute

The Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) offers training and university preparation for international and local non-native English speaking students. At the IELI, students study all aspects of the English language: reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar and pronunciation. They also receive a course on American Culture, and in more advanced levels, students engage in English Proficiency Test preparations, as well as Texas Success Initiative (TSI) practices. Special courses and seminars are offered to help students prepare for TESOL and IELTS and develop their English skills in professional fields.
