Tyler Sister City: Yachiyo, Japan

Yachiyo Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) Program

Purpose

The University of Texas at Tyler collaborates with Tyler Sister Cities International to alert graduates about an amazing English language teaching opportunity in Tyler's Sister City of Yachiyo, Japan.  The employer for the position is the Yachiyo Education Board and therefore the program is organized and run by the city leadership of Yachiyo, Japan. Neither Tyler Sister Cities nor the University of Texas at Tyler are involved in establishing the employment criteria or making decisions about the hiring of their teachers; rather we assist the City of Yachiyo by taking the time to meet with prospective teachers to explain (in English) all the details associated with the teaching opportunity.  In addition, we assist applicants by providing them with information about the opportunity and also forward completed application materials to Japan. Tyler Sister Cities covers the cost to send application materials to the Board of Education in the City of Yachiyo.
