Faculty and Staff Self-Service Password Reset

The University of Texas at Tyler has a valuable tool for faculty and staff to successfully manage their password on their own. By following the instructions provided below, you will be able to set up a password reset profile, which will make it possible to regain access to your account should you forget your password.

Prior to resetting your faculty or staff password, and as part of the password recovery process, you will need to first setup a password recovery profile.

The Password Recovery Profile (Password Registration) is required in order to recover or reset your password in the future.

  • Select the Password Recovery Profile link.
  • You will be prompted for your username.
  • Make sure to enter it as UTTYLER\username.
  • On the Register Your Answers page, you will only need to answer three of the questions presented.
  • One of the steps will ask for a recovery email address. This should NOT be an @uttyler.edu address. Instead you should use your personal email (e.g., Yahoo, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.).**

**If you do not have a personal email address, you could use your cell phone (SMS) address.


  • Verizon phone would be 9035551234@vtext.com
  • AT&T phone would be 9035551234@mms.att.net

Once you have set up your password recovery profile, you will be able to initiate a password reset.

  • Select the Password Reset link.
  • You will be prompted for your username.
  • Make sure to enter it as UTTYLER\username or username@uttyler.edu.
  • On the Submit Your Answers page, three of your questions will appear. You only need to answer two of them.
  • Correct answers provided, a security code will be sent to your password recovery e-mail address.
  • After you enter that code, you can change your password.
