Lindsey Birdsong is the Deputy Chief Legal Counsel for the University. Lindsey previously owned and operated a law practice in Tyler for twenty-two years. He represented business entities in general corporate and contractual matters, acquisitions, joint ventures, as well as individuals, businesses and physicians and their entities and businesses and drafts estate planning documents.

He was previously a Shareholder with Potter Minton Law Firm.  Lindsey also was the Chief Legal Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for East Texas Medical Center Regional Healthcare System,  where he routinely represented the System in drafting and reviewing contracts as well as drafting documents to acquire hospitals, physician practices, other business entities as well as advising on general business issues.

He is Board Certified in Health Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and a Texas Super Lawyer for several years in a row. Lindsey's practice is transactional in nature, focused primarily in the areas of general business, employment and corporate law.

He is a Member of the Texas State Bar and holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University School of Law,  and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas Tech Rawls School of Business, is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation,  a Member of the American Health Lawyers Association and is a private pilot with instrument, complex and high-performance ratings.
