MVSC Scholarships

Scholarships available to military affiliated students at UT Tyler

The MVSC administers the following scholarships for military affiliated students, in conjunction with the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Application information on these scholarships can be obtained by contacting the MVSC.

 

Richard and Madeline Lewis Scholarship

Support for this scholarship is provided by the Texas Wounded Warrior Foundation and the members of the Eagles Bluff Golf Club. The scholarship is $2,000, disbursed evenly between the fall and spring semesters.

Scholarship Criteria: To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must be:

  • an honorably discharged VETERAN of the Armed Forces. Active duty students (including Reservists and National Guard members) are eligible to apply, but will only be awarded if other students are not eligible. Military family members are not eligible to apply.

  • Preference for the scholarship is given to UT Tyler juniors and seniors, as well as those veterans with an established disability rating from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Rose City Marine Corps League Scholarship

Support for this scholarship is provided by the Rose City Marine Corps League. The scholarship is $2,000, disbursed evenly between the fall and spring semesters.

Scholarship Criteria: To be eligible for the scholarship, an applicant must be:

  • Current Marines or Fleet Marine Force (FMF) personnel (Navy doctors, nurses, chaplains, corpsmen, and religious program specialists); or,

  • A Marine or Navy FMF veteran; or,

  • A family member of one of the above groups.

 

Outside Scholarships

The MVSC can provide assistance with applying for these scholarships. Specific questions regarding the scholarships must be addressed to the scholarship organization.

VFW's "Sport Clips Help A Hero Scholarship"  provides service members and veterans with the financial assistance they need to complete their educational goals without incurring excessive student loan debt. It’s just another way for us to say “thank you” to those who fought for our freedoms.
