Lucila Meraz

My name is Lucila Meraz. I am from Springtown, Texas. I am a Music Education Major and I play the Horn. In my free time I like to read. My favorite quote is-- "I know that I know nothing" (Plato).

Kyle Bennett

Kyle earned his Associates from TJC in Music, with a focus in trumpet, and is approaching graduation from UT Tyler earning a bachelor’s in music education. He is a part of the Jazz Ensemble, Trumpet Studio, Brass Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, and is the director of the UT Tyler Basketball Band. He is continuing his third consecutive year as a music and visual instructor for the Robert E. Lee High School band here in Tyler. Kyle began his drum corps career as a member of the trumpet section in 2015 with the Crossmen (15-17) and was the Horn Sergeant and Soloist in 2017. In 2018, following his age out, he worked as an intern for the Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps with the Brass and Visual staff, and has since returned to be a Trumpet Instructor on the Brass Staff. Kyle has also served as the President of the Zeta XI Chapter (TJC) of “Kappa Kappa Psi, the National Honorary Band Fraternity” (2015-2016). In his spare time Kyle enjoys composing, reading, and being with friends.

Alaba Ilesanmi

Alaba is a senior music education major, originally from Lagos, Nigeria. A multi-instrumentalist, composer and arranger. Prior to attending UT Tyler, Alaba studied music on two years full scholarship (tuition, books, and stipend) from MTN Foundation at MUSON School of music, Lagos, Nigeria. During those years, he passed the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and Trinity College of Music London examinations in Percussion, Piano, theory of music and music literacy. The quest to better improve himself and the pursuit for higher education made him relocated to the United States in the summer of 2014. Alaba enjoys traveling and has visited more than 12 states since 2014, also he enjoys sightseeing and kayaking.


Madison Fowler

“I am a senior music education major, and am from Canton. I play flute, piano, and I'm also learning saxophone. I am also working for the Canton Band for the third consecutive year. Some of my hobbies include watching old movies, traveling, reading, and hanging out with friends.”


Mason Thomas

My name is Mason Thomas, I’m a freshman at UT Tyler, my major is Piano Performance, and I’ve been playing for about 7 years. I’m also in the jazz ensemble and combo, and this past summer I marched with the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps. Some other things I like are photography, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities like that.
