UT System approved plans that restructure the college, effective Sept. 1. The restructuring forms a standalone School of Nursing, and Dr. Barbara Haas serves as the school’s dean.

“We would like to thank members of the task force and the entire faculty and staff of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences for their commitment to UT Tyler and our students,” said Dr. Julie Philley, executive vice president for health affairs.

The UT Tyler Department of Health and Kinesiology will temporarily report to Dr. Gerald Ledlow, dean of the School of Community and Rural Health, as officials form a task force to develop plans for a standalone School of Health Professions, Philley added.
