UT Tyler College of Education and Psychology Honors Impactful Employees

Awardee Zolkoski and her daughterThe UT Tyler College of Education and Psychology this year established annual awards to recognize high achievement in teaching, research and service as well as staff excellence.

All awards are open to nominations, and CEP committees determine winners in each category.

“The CEP awards highlight excellence within the college, and since we have a college full of high performers, the process of choosing a winner is highly competitive,” said Dr. Wesley Hickey, dean of the College of Education and Psychology. “We are also collegial, so the winners are recognized and appreciated for their contributions.”

The 2021 CEP Awardees are:

Teaching Award: Dr. Lauren Kirby, assistant professor of psychology, and Dr. Staci Zolkoski, assistant professor of special education

Research Award: Dr. Michael Barnett, assistant professor of psychology and director of the UT Tyler Memory Assessment & Research Center and the Aging, Neuropsychology & Technology Lab, and Dr. Chris Thomas, assistant professor of education

Service Award: Dr. Erin West, assistant professor in counseling, and Dr. Yanira Oliveras-Ortiz, associate professor of education and assistant director of the UT Tyler School of Education

Staff Award: Kristie Allen, Department of Psychology and Counseling graduate adviser and UT Tyler Mentor Center coordinator, and Lisa Dempsey, School of Education undergraduate adviser and recruiter
