Soules College of Business Newsletter

Dean's Message

March 2021Swimberghe

The month of March brings with it the first day of spring and nature that reemerges after its winter sleep. Just as all of Texas is recovering from a cruel winter event, faculty, staff and students at the Soules College of Business and the entire UT Tyler Patriot community continue to adapt and adjust to ensure students are receiving a world-class education. I am extremely proud of the resiliency that students, faculty, staff, alumni and parents have shown in overcoming the challenges that have been thrown our way for a year now.

March’s newsletter introduces one of Soules’ accounting faculty, Dr. Veronda Willis, who personifies this commitment to excellence. Under her leadership and tutelage, students in the Master of Accounting program continue to be some of the top achievers in the state of Texas. Another feature article highlights a community and professional servant leader who has played an instrumental role in leading not only the city of Tyler and her accounting firm, but also has, and continues to be, a champion for the Soules College of Business and mentor to its students. Finally, a mother and daughter who are both recent Soules College of Business alumni tell how UT Tyler and the Soules College of Business have influenced their lives.

Once again, thank you all for your efforts and support during these challenging times. Please stay safe and healthy — and informed — by continuing to monitor the UT Tyler website for the latest information and guidance (https://www.uttyler.edu/coronavirus).

Dr. Krist Swimberghe

Interim Dean, Soules College of Business
