The Longview University Center hit another milestone Monday when six East Texas area students completed their Lean/Six Sigma Certification training at the Longview campus, Dr. Van Patterson, Longview University Center director, announced.

The Lean Six Sigma training prepares students with knowledge and tools they can use to lead quality improvement initiatives in companies, thereby, reducing waste and becoming more efficient. These efforts have allowed companies to become more competitive and successfully compete in global markets.

"Lean/Six Sigma Certification training dovetails well with our Industrial Technology program which will be expanding this fall to include face to face instruction in engineering graphics, statistics and fundamentals of management," said Patterson. "This training is also important because it was the first time the LUC has offered this type of training, which was in direct response to the requests of local employers. We are proud of our newest "Green Belts" and wish them great success." Students completing the training include: Brigette Farrell, Brandy Brannon, Gerardo Aguilar, and Terry Johnston from Kilgore, TX and Chase Degg and Brady Gillar of Longview, TX.

Located at 3201 North Eastman Road, The University of Texas at Tyler Longview University Center offers degree-completion opportunities in nursing, criminal justice and industrial technology to citizens of Longview and surrounding areas.
