The University of Texas at Tyler Palestine Campus hosted its third annual Showcase Day for the bachelor of science of nursing program.

About 60 area high school students from The University of Texas at Tyler Innovation Academy-Palestine Campus and Palestine and Westwood High Schools attended this year's event.

The BSN Showcase Day gives high schools students a look inside the program.

"It is a great opportunity to share details about the BSN program offered at the campus to local high school students," said Susan Harris, The University of Texas at Tyler Palestine Campus administrative services officer.

Participants experienced a mini lecture, a program information session, student panel discussion, hands-on activities in infection control and interaction with the high-tech simulation mannequins in the lab.

The University of Texas at Tyler makes its outstanding nursing programs conveniently accessible to residents of Palestine and the southwestern region of East Texas via the Palestine Campus.

Students experience cost-saving convenience, greater flexibility in scheduling their classes and reduced travel expenses and commuting time to Tyler, all while receiving a University of Texas at Tyler degree. Courses are taught using traditional face-to-face delivery by on-site professors in addition to online and hybrid teaching models.
