Panola College signed an articulation agreement with The University of Texas at Tyler on Thursday, April 19, in the Health and Natural Sciences Building on the campus of Panola College.

UT Tyler's president, Dr. Michael Tidwell, and Panola College's president, Dr. Gregory Powell, signed the agreement that offers students at Panola College and UT Tyler access to enhanced educational experiences for students attending both institutions. This agreement will assist in providing a clear pathway for students with technical or applied degrees to progress towards a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences. The agreement will work to maximize the coursework students have completed for the associate degree that may be applied towards the baccalaureate degree.

"We are pleased to begin this partnership with Panola College," said Dr. Tidwell. "We feel that Panola College's commitment to their students is inline with our new strategic plan and that this partnership will be beneficial to both Panola College and UT Tyler students."

Panola College's partnership with The University of Texas at Tyler marks Panola's fourth articulation agreement with institutions in the region. Part of the prominent University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Tyler is one of 14 institutions located throughout the State. UT Tyler offers students more than 80 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degree programs on their 259-acre Tyler campus, or on one of their regional campuses in Palestine, Longview and Houston.

"Panola College is delighted to enter into this agreement with UT Tyler," said Dr. Powell. "Establishing this clear pathway with UT Tyler is part of Panola College's commitment to provide our students with continued access to higher education beyond an associate degree."

Located in Carthage, Texas, Panola College is an award-winning community college. Panola College first opened its doors to students seventy years ago with just two temporary buildings. Now, the institution stands with 19 permanent buildings and serves around 2,700 students in the counties of Marion, Panola, Shelby and Harrison.

A member of the prestigious UT System, The University of Texas at Tyler focuses on student success and innovative research in the more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree programs offered. With more than 10,000 students, UT Tyler has facilities in Tyler, Longview, Palestine and Houston.
