The University of Texas at Tyler will host its 33rd annual Patriot Classic fundraiser which benefits scholarship programs for its Tyler, Longview and Palestine campuses.

The Patriot Classic consists of the Patriot Golf Classic and the UT Tyler Southside Bank Patriot Hole-in-One. The UT Tyler Patriot Golf Endowed Scholarship fund currently stands at over $2.1 million raised for deserving UT Tyler students. Each Classic event is staffed by community volunteers and supported by numerous organizations.

"We couldn't do these events without all the participants, sponsors and volunteers who come together to make an impact on the lives of UT Tyler students," said Orrie Covert, vice president for advancement. "These events are the perfect example of how much the Tyler community supports student success."

The UT Tyler Southside Bank Patriot Million Dollar Hole-In-One contest offers amateur golfers age 18 and older the opportunity to compete, at $1 per shot, in preliminary daily rounds. Qualifying rounds begin Monday, May 13 through Saturday, May 18.

Daily qualifiers are those who hit a hole-in-one, as well as those who hit closest to the hole during the daily qualifying rounds. Those who qualify advance to the finals which are set to take place at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19 at Hollytree Country Club. Qualifiers have the opportunity to win $1 million dollars, a Patterson Tyler Dodge Ram or $25,000 with a hole-in-one.

The chance to qualify on Friday, May 17 will feature extended hours and allow contestants to try and qualify from 7 - 11 p.m. under the "Friday Night Lights" where the tee box and green will be well lit for players and will feature one additional qualifier each hour. The event is open to family and friends of golfers.

The 2019 Patriot Golf Classic Tournament will take place Monday, May 20 at Hollytree Country Club, where there will be giveaways and activities through the course for golfers. In addition to the general Patriot Golf Classic scholarships that are awarded annually, two students will be awarded a full scholarship and a half-scholarship for the 2019-2020 year.
