The University of Texas at Tyler announced today that the 2021 East Texas Research Conference (ETRC) will be a virtual presentation of research on COVID, its implications and developing therapeutics.

Coronavirus Pandemic, Emerging Therapeutics, Health Implications and Challenges will be 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, and will feature presentations from invited speakers from The University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler as well as UT M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, UT Rio Grande Valley and other institutions in the UT System.

“COVID-19 remains one of the great healthcare challenges of our time,” said Steven Idell, MD, PhD, UT Tyler senior vice president for research. “This ETRC provides a forum to hear from a panel of internationally recognized experts about the medical and behavioral consequences of COVID-19 infection, current treatment options, how the vaccinations work and new strategies being developed by UT Tyler investigators to ensure better outcomes.”

The sessions will include a live component in which attendees may pose questions to the presenters.

Conference registration is open, and attendance is free. To register, visit https://etrc.uttyler.edu/.

UT Tyler will host a follow-up ETRC conference in fall 2021 featuring UT Tyler faculty and students about COVID-19 and other academic research impacting the lives of East Texans.
