The University of Texas at Tyler announced that Lidia Alvidrez of Tyler is one of 39 student artists who has been selected for the 2023 National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts’ Juried Student Exhibition. Alvidrez is a UT Tyler graduate student in the Master of Arts/Master of Fine Arts studio art program.

The exhibition will be held at the University of Cincinnati’s DAAP Galleries Jan. 26-March 18, 2023, in conjunction with Current, the NCECA’s 57th annual conference to be held March 15-18, 2023, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Alvidrez’s submitted artwork, titled “Depression,” will be viewed by over 4,000 conference attendees and ceramic enthusiasts from the regional community.

“The selection of Lidia’s work for the exhibition continues a long streak of representation of UT Tyler student work in the annual NCECA National Juried Student Exhibition, and speaks to the strength of the art and art history programs and research produced by our students,” said Merrie Wright, MFA, UT Tyler professor and Department of Art and Art History chair. “We are incredibly proud of Lidia’s accomplishment.”

Overall, 243 artists submitted 659 images for consideration, representing 101 graduate, 19 postbaccalaureate
and 123 undergraduate students from 111 schools. A total of 39 works by 39 artists were chosen for the exhibition, which features 25 graduate, two post-baccalaureate and 12 undergraduate students representing 28 schools.
