UT Tyler New Patriot Orientation
Students transferring from another institution of higher education and re-entering college have different needs and concerns from first-time college students. UT Tyler has created an orientation program specifically for transfer students and re-entering students to prepare them for life as a Patriot.
When is New Patriot Orientation for transfer students?
Spring Transfer Orientation is now complete.
Will I be getting anything in the mail?
All transfer students who have been officially accepted to UT Tyler will receive a postcard and email inviting them to register for New Patriot Orientation.
May I bring family members or other guests with me to New Patriot Orientation?
Yes, we hope you will. You may include them with your registration.
Do I need to register in advance for New Patriot Orientation?
Yes. Students and guests can register online.
Will I be advised during New Patriot Orientation?
Advising is not a part of the orientation program. We encourage you to set up an appointment with your academic advisor prior to orientation. During your advising session, you will receive information about academic requirements and obtain clearance to register for courses.
• Transfers with less than 30 credit hours can schedule their advising through the Academic Advising Center
• Transfers with 30-60 hours may contact Kristie Allen at 903.565.5785
• Transfers with more than 60 credit hours may find their advisor's contact information here.
Is New Patriot Orientation mandatory?
New Patriot Orientation is not mandatory, but we highly recommend that you attend.
What will I do at New Patriot Orientation?
New Patriot Orientation will provide you with an opportunity to learn about the services and resources available at UT Tyler, meet your department advisors, tour the campus, and complete university business such as getting a parking pass and student id.

What is the schedule for New Patriot Transfer Orientation?
All registered students will receive an email the week prior to the orientation. This email will include a detailed schedule, campus map and information on where to go once you arrive on campus.
