Emma BothwellTell us a little about you.

I am married and expecting a little girl, Lola, in early November. My husband (Steven), two dogs, and I love to travel and explore the outdoors.

What did you do right after graduating? 

After graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I started my dream job working at Walt Disney World through the Disney College Program! 

Tell us about your current job and what you do. 

I currently am a Banking Officer and Real Estate Risk Manager at Texas Bank and Trust overseeing the Appraisal and Environmental Risk Department.

How did your Soules College of Business degree help you with your current position? 

The Soules College of Business helped me grow in understanding in all things related to finance. I still think back on my managerial classes for insight on how to approach the managing aspect of my job.

What was your favorite Soules College of Business class and why? 

Financial Services Operations. I loved learning about banking from the best adjunct professor – my dad! (Jerry Woolverton)

Any Soules College of Business/ UT Tyler memories you would like to share? 

Attending the Quinnipiac GAME Forum conference in New York City with Dr. Pandey and a few of my fellow FMA members was one of my favorite memories. The conference was very informative, and we had a blast exploring NYC.

Were you involved in any student organizations while a student here?

Yes, I was involved with the Financial Management Association and was the president in 2014. I made the best connections through FMA and recommend getting involved!

What advice would you give current Soules College of Business students? 

Bloom where you are planted. Whether you get your dream job right after graduation or not, learn everything you can from your current position, ask questions, and find the joy in where you are. You will be surprised about how your current position will help you in future endeavors. 

What insight do you have for Soules College of Business students that are about to graduate on how to land their first job?

Take Gail Johnson’s Build and Manage a Successful Career class and do everything she says! She helped me in preparing for interviews, resume building, and career management. 

Also - get to know your professors. They are extremely knowledgeable and most are willing to help you with questions or references after graduating.
