UT Tyler Students Named 2024 UTIMCO Scholars

April 17, 2024 | Hannah Buchanan

Seven students at The University of Texas at Tyler were named 2024 University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company Scholars. The UTIMCO Scholars program prepares undergraduate students for careers in the financial industry.

Scholars participate in an eight-week internship program where they learn from UTIMCO leaders as well as those from top financial firms such as Bridgewater, Greystar, JP Morgan, Fortress and PIMCO. HR professionals also provide insight into the recruitment process and offer tips for entering the sector as a young professional.

“We congratulate these students who are among the 2024 cohort,” said Susan Doty, UT Tyler Distinguished Teaching Professor and UTIMCO program coordinator for the university. “Thanks to this beneficial program, they will be prime candidates for careers in the financial arena.”

The 2024 UT Tyler cohort is Josue Funez of Arlington, Nathan Bowers of Flint, Melanie Spencer of Jefferson, Emmanuel Ramirez of Longview, Hunter Brown of Palestine, Tristan Vaughan of Tyler, and Luisa Morais of Brazil.

Students will attend a program kick-off event next month in Austin.

UT Tyler’s UTIMCO Scholar cohorts are selected from students within the College of Arts and Sciences and Soules College of Business. For more information about the program, contact Doty at sdoty@uttyler.edu.
