UT Tyler University Advancement

The University Archives and Special Collections Department (UASC) is part of UT Tyler's Robert R. Muntz Library. The UASC is committed to and wholly supports the mission and goals of UT Tyler and the Robert R. Muntz Library. The UASC supports the functions, mission, and goals of UT Tyler and the Muntz Library by:

  • Documenting and preserving teaching, research, community service and administrative functions of the university.
  • Documenting and preserving student life and activities of the university.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation on local history, including Tyler and Smith County.
  • Providing research assistance and accessibility of materials to students, faculty, staff, and outside researchers.
  • Ensuring longevity of the records and collections at the University Archives and Special Collections.
  • Assisting departments, faculty, and staff in managing records with enduring value.

Donations to the UASC will be used for special projects, collection development, and collection care. Providing archival care for UASC held materials is expensive and is expected to rise in the coming years. You can help by donating to the UASC, and in doing so, you will be helping to preserve UT Tyler and Tyler area history for generations to come. If you would like your donation to go to a specific collection’s care, please let us know. We are also interested in collecting materials that support our mission and goals. If you would like to donate collections materials, please contact archivist@uttyler.edu.
