Welcome to the University Health Clinic (UHC) - A partnership between The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler (UTHCT) and The University of Texas at Tyler (UT Tyler). The UHC is dedicated to the highest quality treatment and care of the students, faculty, and staff of UT Tyler.

As your student health clinic, the staff of the UHC recognizes that your health and well-being are vital components of your success as a student at UT Tyler.

New Patients, Follow This Link

Fall and Spring Semester Hours
8:30 a.m. to 5 on Monday through Friday. The clinic is closed from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. daily.

Summer Hours

8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Mon. Wed. and Fri.   1:00 p.m. t0 5:00 p.m. on Tue. and Thu.

Visits are by appointment for routine and preventive care, walk-ins for medically urgent care are accepted during regular hours. After-hours, medically urgent care should b e referred to UTHCT's ER or other local emergency rooms. Call 911 if you have an emergency.

What Your Medical Services Fee Pays For

  • Physician and Nurse Practitioner (APN) primary care services
  • History/physical exam for minor illnesses and injury by APN/RN
  • Women's wellness exam and family planning including pregnancy testing, not including mammography
  • On-site lab testing - glucose, urinalysis, and screenings for mononucleosis (mono spot), influenza (flu), and streptococcal pharyngitis (strep throat)
  • Repair of uncomplicated lacerations
    Chronic health condition monitoring, not including radiology or lab work performed off-site
  • TB skin testing
  • Wellness education and health promotion activities
  • Counseling services profided by UT Tyler counseling staff

Available On-Site Services Billed Separately

  • Routine immunizations
  • Laboratory and associated professional fees
  • Radiology and associated professional fees
  • PAP smears
  • Maintenance allergy injections
  • Testing and treatment of Sexually Transmitted Diseases

All other services are available at The University of Texas Health Center at Tyler, located at the intersection of Hwy. 271 and Hwy. 155. Patient appointments at UTHCT can be made by calling (903) 877-5122.

Medical Services Fee and Other Charges
The Medical Services Fee that went into effect in January 2006 covers the office visit for professional services related to health or counseling services. Charges may also be incurred for laboratory testing, x-rays, diagnostic tests, medications, immunizations, or additional services rendered by other UTHCT providers. The Medical Services Fee also does not cover UTHCT clinic appointments, emergency room visits, or hospitalization costs. Students are responsible for payment of services not covered under the Medical Services Fee.

The protection and security of your health information is one of the cornerstones of quality care and a right you have and can depend on as our patient.

Counseling Services
The Mission of the Student Counseling Center is to help you resolve personal concerns and acquire the skills, attitudes, ability, and insight that will enable you to meet the challenges of student life. Personal and couples counseling is available along with career counseling, learning strategies, consulting/guidance, classroom and community support during a crisis, educational workshops and presentations, and relaxation training. Appointments for counseling may be made by calling (903) 566-7079. The Student Counseling Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and is located in UC 282.

University Health Information Services
You are eligible to purchase student health insurance if you are a registered fee-paying student at The University of Texas at Tyler and maintain enrollment through at least the 12th class day. Students may enroll for student health insurance on line through the student insurance web page at www.studentresources.net or by telephoning the Customer Services Department at 800-767-0700.
