Department of Mathematics
UT Tyler College of Arts and Sciences
If you are a potential undergraduate mathematics student looking to learn more about the Department of Mathematics, careers in mathematics, and mathematics in general, we have much to offer. With a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, there are many career opportunities available. Additionally, we have a very popular teacher certification program.
Mathematics is a great major for pre-med and pre-law students; mathematics majors, as a whole, usually score at the top on the MCAT exam. We also offer the Master of Science in Mathematics, a well-rounded and rigorous program of study which focuses on real analysis, algebra, probability and statistics, and applied mathematics. The M.S. program is intended to prepare students for advanced study at the Ph.D. level and to give students advanced training in mathematics leading to work in industry.
The Department of Mathematics is located in Ratliff Building North (RBN) on the 4th floor. This modern facility includes an open access computer lab, tutoring area, student lounge, two computerized classrooms, and excellent classroom spaces.
