The University of Texas at Tyler Ingenuity Center, in partnership with Tyler area
educators, will hold an education summit 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30 at the
UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center.
Educators, state officials and chamber of commerce presidents will discuss ways to
increase knowledge and awareness of the New Vision educational philosophy and develop additional methods for collaborations.
New Vision, a statewide grassroots effort, aims to transform the Texas public education system
through technology to enhance curriculum and instruction. The philosophy also places
less emphasis on standardized testing and more importance on local control and a broader
accountability system.
The idea for regional action was first initiated from a group organized by the Texas
Association of School Administrators.
