TYLER -- The UT Tyler athletics department celebrated some of the many student-athletes who excel on the field and court as well as the classroom at the 2013 Student-Athlete Awards Luncheon. 14 Patriots were honored for their exceptional work in the classroom and competition.
Ten athletes were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society for the 2012-13 season, while seven athletes were named as finalists for the UT Tyler Student-Athlete of the Year award.
Matt Sheppard, Baylee Talaska and Joey Cronin were also named as finalists for the American Southwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Year award.
Jake Waddingham, a member of the Track and Field team was named as the 2012-13 Male Student-Athlete of the Year while softball player Joey Cronin was named the Female Student-Athlete of the Year. More...
