The UT Tyler community is encouraged to participate in a universitywide health initiative
beginning this semester.
“The Talon Trot is a program that can accommodate all fitness levels, and walking
provides numerous health benefits. I’m excited that Aramark and Rec Sports are working
together to bring this wonderful program to UT Tyler,” said Heidi Grafton, assistant
director of fitness and special programs.
For every 24 miles walked inside or 12 miles walked outside, participants can receive
an on-campus voucher for either a free six-inch sub sandwich from Subway or a free
coffee. Participants record their miles at the Herrington Patriot Center lobby.
The initiative continues through Friday, Dec. 6. Prizes are limited to either two
sandwiches or three coffees per person for the semester.
Participants must use a treadmill or the indoor track at the HPC for indoor miles.
They can record their distance outside by using a pedometer or a walking app, Grafton
added.
Sponsors are UT Tyler recreational sports and Aramark, the university’s food services
provider.
