Beginning Monday Aug. 25, the no-parking restriction on Varsity Drive has been temporarily
lifted along certain sections of the street. The City of Tyler has placed bags over
the signs in the areas that parking will be allowed. In particular, fire zones, the
bus stop and areas immediately adjacent to entrances and exits are still no-parking
zones and are marked accordingly.
The speed limit on Varsity Drive is 30 miles per hour. Motorists and pedestrians are
urged to use caution as Varsity Drive becomes congested during peak traffic times.
As always, pedestrians should take extra time to check traffic both ways prior to
crossing the street, and drivers are urged to watch for pedestrian traffic. Police
will monitor Varsity Drive to ensure all applicable traffic and parking laws are being
obeyed.
