Dr. Kouider Mokhtari has co-authored a book published by Harvard Education Press. Mokhtari is the Anderson-Vukelja-Wright Endowed Professor within the UT Tyler School of Education. His research work focuses on the acquisition of language and literacy by first and second language readers.

In Educating English Learners: What every classroom teacher needs to know, Mokhtari and his colleagues (Nutta, Strebel, Mihai and Crevecoeur) offer practical tools for helping schools and teachers successfully integrate English learners into mainstream classrooms. Drawing on the One Plus model presented in their award-winning book, Preparing Every Teacher to Reach English Learners, the authors turn their attention to the needs of K–12 teachers who typically have two or three English learners in their classrooms.

The book addresses timely and important theoretical, research and practical issues in ESOL, second language acquisition and teacher preparation. Unlike many of the books available in this area, this book is written in an easy to read style and tone and brings a fresh perspective to how essential understandings from cross-disciplinary fields can be used to effectively reach and teach English learners in the mainstream classrooms, Mokhtari said.
