Dr. Rauf Arif, assistant professor of mass communication; Dr. Mary Anna Kid, assistant
professor of journalism; and Justin Velten, assistant professor of speech communication,
will share their research at an international conference about multicultural societies
on Dec. 7.
They will present “Incorporating Intercultural Communication Competencies in Higher
Education” for the Communication in Multicultural Society conference at the National
Research Nuclear University in Moscow.
“This speaking engagement is especially important and displays the relevance of our
faculty research as it pertains to the heightened discussions regarding multiculturalism
in Paris after the recent bombings,” Velten said.
The UT Tyler Department of Communication, housed within the College of Arts and Sciences, offers bachelor’s degrees in mass communication and speech communication and a master
of arts degree in communication, each tailored to students’ specific interests and
abilities.
