The University of Texas at Tyler will hold a campuswide tornado drill at 10:45 a.m. Friday, March 31. Students, faculty and staff on the Tyler, Longview and Palestine campuses are expected to participate.

The University of Texas at Tyler Police Department will initiate the drill via Patriot Alert, VOIP phone system and indoor fire alarm mass communication system. The outdoor warning system will not be activated to eliminate confusing the surrounding community. If inclement weather occurs in the area, the drill will be rescheduled.

Upon receiving the tornado drill message, building occupants will be expected to move to the designated tornado shelter areas, and the Department Safety Liaison [DSL] and other key staff will assist with directions. Please follow their instructions and move quickly and quietly to the shelter area. Complete participation will help officials test campus procedures, time of how long it takes to move to the shelters and determine if the designated space is adequate.

The "All Clear" will be issued at 10:55 a.m. by means of the same communication systems used to initiate the drill. Once received, everyone will be released from the shelters.
