We look forward to welcoming you to the United States and The University of Texas at Tyler. About a week or two before Orientation day, exact time and location details will be sent to your Patriots email account. Make sure you have completed all Medical Clearance Requirements prior to Orientation and your immigration check-in.   

Who needs to attend New International Student Orientation?

New International Student Orientation is mandatory for F-1 and J-1 students enrolling at UT Tyler for the first time, including transfer students. It is also required of students changing their visa status to F-1

How do I register for New International Student Orientation?

All new international students, including transfer students, must register in order to attend Orientation on Jan. 10, 2018. 

  • Review the New Student Checklist of important assignments to complete, as you prepare to register for classes.
  • View the Calendar to stay ahead of important dates and deadlines as Orientation day nears.
  • Email issfs@uttyler.edu for questions about Orientation. 

What do I need to bring to my immigration check-in session?

All new UT Tyler international students must check in with their international advisor prior to or shortly after Orientation. The ISSFS Center will reopen after the conclusion of Orientation on Jan. 10 to finish immigration check-ins. If you are arriving in Tyler before Jan. 10, you may check in any weekday after Jan. 1 between 8:00p.m to 12p.m. and 1:00p.m. to 4:30p.m. 

All students must bring the following documents and information to check-in:

  • Local address and phone number
  • Current passport*
  • Visa
  • Signed I-20
  • I-94 

*If your I-94 is attached to a different passport, bring both passports.

In addition, transfer students who have not received an I-20 from UT Tyler must bring:
