UT Tyler Sociology Division
The mission of the Undergraduate Program in Sociology is to teach the appreciation of scientific method as used in sociology to improve our students' knowledge of behavior, institutions, occupational groups, ethnic groups, and societies. The sociology faculty strives to prepare students to become critical thinkers, and able communicators of sociological principles, as our students enter various professions, and graduate schools. In all walks of life, sociology students are expected to take with them an appreciation for logical and ethical behavior, scientific acquisition of knowledge and an understanding of diverse cultures. Furthermore, the undergraduate sociology program encourages students to become life-long learners as they serve the profession, the university, and humanity.
