The School of Health Professions is housed between the main campus and the UT Tyler Health Science Center, the region’s only academic health science center and home to the only medical school in East Texas. Our mission extends from educating the next generation of health professionals to improving community health and the quality of care delivered in the region.

In turn, UT Tyler focuses on training healthcare professionals who understand our region’s unique needs, are invested in patient and community care and seek solutions to the challenges our neighbors face. Discover New Ways of Care

Research shapes how we improve the quality of life in East Texas and beyond. UT Tyler spurs innovation through eight research centers, several of which are dedicated to finding solutions to the region’s health challenges.

Through the Lifespan Wellness Research Center, students assist with services related to fitness testing, body composition assessment and personal training and practice what they’ve learned in the classroom in the process. Directing our school’s impact, our faculty have been published nationally in prestigious scholarly journals, and they frequently invite undergraduate and graduate students to collaborate.
