The Department of Art and Art History prepares students for careers as studio artists, graphic designers, art historians, art educators, and creative professionals. Combining the strengths of a professional art school with a liberal arts education, the department offers degrees in Studio Art, Graphic Design, Art History, and Art Education.
Students benefit from well-equipped facilities across all studio art disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, ceramics, printmaking, and digital media. Through hands-on learning and faculty mentorship, graduates develop the creative, technical, and critical-thinking skills needed for success in the arts and related professions.
The UT Tyler Department of Art and Art History offers undergraduate degrees including a BA in Studio Art, BFA in Studio Art, and BA in Art History. The BFA and BA in Studio Art offers concentrations in two- and three-dimensional studio art, graphic design, art history, and general studio art, with an option for all-level teacher certification.
The UT Tyler Department of Art and Art History offers graduate degrees including an MA in Art History, MA in Studio Art, and MFA in Studio Art. Graduate students may pursue advanced study in either studio art or art history.
The department also offers minors in Art, Studio Art, and Art History.

42nd Annual International Exhibition - Prospectus
The Annual International Exhibition is a juried visual art competition organized by the Department of Art and Art History at The University of Texas at Tyler. Internationally known artists, curators and scholars have served as jurors selecting works for exhibition created by some of the best contemporary artists working today. The department purchases three to six works from the exhibition each year; purchased works are added to our permanent collection. The permanent collection serves as an educational teaching resource; much of the permanent collection is exhibited throughout the UT Tyler main campus.
