Jessica FalerTell us a little about you.

I grew up with pretty humble beginnings on The Perry Dairy Farm in Murchison, Texas. I always had big dreams of making a difference in the world and helping people. When it came down to accomplishing anything that seemed difficult, my dad always said to me “the word “can’t” is not a word in your vocabulary.” I carried his advice  with me through any big endeavor I faced. I worked hard all through school and my career to reach my goal of having a great work life balance. Over time, I became a financial advisor, wife and a Mom. I am extremely thankful for my education as it has given me so much. I make a big difference in my client’s lives and get to spend so much time with my family as well.

What did you do right after graduating?

I started working for Furniture Row as a sales associate and was soon promoted to sales manager in one the their stores in Littleton, CO.

Tell us about your current job and what you do.

I am a Private Client Advisor with JPMorgan.

I work closely with my Chase Bank teams to cultivate synergy between all areas of the bank. This helps to facilitate relationships between our clients to work with their full financial picture. I meet with clients and get to know them and their family. Building a financial plan and offering different investment tools to help them reach their short and long term goals is my focus.

How did your Soules College of Business degree help you with your current position?

My degree in Finance was instrumental in helping me to not only obtain my position with my company, but the knowledge I took away significantly bettered my ability to obtain important licenses for my role.

What was your favorite Soules College of Business class and why?

Finance 101, this was my first taste of really getting into finance studies and I loved how it dove into exploring the market and the impacts of investing.

Any Soules College of Business/ UT Tyler memories you would like to share?

I was in the SIFE organization. This student organization was so fun for me and really helped me to open up and get comfortable with public speaking. We traveled to Minnesota and competed against other universities and had the best time!

Were you involved in any student organizations while a student here?

Yes, I was in FMA and SIFE. Both organizations were so fun and I took away so many lessons and so much growth.

What advice would you give current Soules College of Business students?

Get involved and really get to know your teachers too! They are so passionate about the areas of study they teach and will give you so much life advice that you can really take away into your futures and careers!
