Ms. Vanessa Joyner joined the Department of Communication at the University of Texas
at Tyler as a Senior Lecturer in Journalism. She is responsible for teaching design
courses that include publications design, visual design, web design, brand identity
design and computer software applications.
Prior to moving to Tyler, Ms. Joyner was a graphic designer for 21 years with AT&T Yellow Pages in St. Louis, Missouri. For five years, she taught graphic design courses as an adjunct instructor at the University of Missouri St. Louis. Ms. Joyner has an M.F.A. Master of Fine Arts degree in Art with an emphasis in graphic design. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art with emphasis in painting.
Ms. Joyner initiated and wrote the proposal to bring a Graphic Design Minor to the University of Texas at Tyler. The proposal was accepted and as of Fall 2014 the new Graphic Design Minor has began. It has been well received by the students.
She recently participated in the Hunger for Peace Visual Art Exhibition at the Tyler Museum of Art. This exhibition was presented by The 2014 Art of Peace Festival Tyler. See write up.
