TSI Testing

UT Tyler Testing Center

TSI exams are given to UT Tyler students for $35; Non UT Tyler Students $50.

The TSI exam is by appointment only. Please call the Testing Center to sign up for a time.

To take the TSI in person:

• Complete the UT Tyler TSI Pre-Assessment and the Accuplacer Pre-Assessment, print out both confirmation pages and bring them with you on the day of your test. If you are not a UT Tyler student ask your institution about their pre assessment activity.
• Pay your proctor fee to the one-stop-shop on campus or PAY ONLINE.
• Know what sections of the TSI you wish totake. There are three: English Language Arts, Essay Writing, and Math.
• By appointment only: please call the Testing Center at 903.565.5693 or send an email to testingcenter@uttyler.edu to schedule an appointment. 
• No TSI are given during the university's posted finals weeks.
• You must bring identification displaying a current photo such as driver's license or student ID.
• Bring your receipt to the Testing Center in LIB 460 on your test day.
• Mechanical pencils will not be allowed in the testing room. Pencils can be provided by testing center staff.
• This is a computer-based exam.
• Scores will be provided to you by testing center employees immediately following your exam.

To take the TSI remotely or at home:

• Complete the UT Tyler TSI Pre-Assessment and the Accuplacer Pre-Assessment. If you are not a UT Tyler student ask your institution about their pre assessment activity.
• Pay your TSI fee to the one-stop-shop on campus or PAY ONLINE. NOTE: There is an additional $25 fee for remote testing, collected by the third-party company used to proctor tests.
• Know what sections of the TSI you wish to take. There are three: English Language Arts, Essay Writing, and Math.
• Please call the Testing Center at 903.565.5693 or send an email to testingcenter@uttyler.edu after you have paid with the following information:
  • First and Last name
  • UT Tyler student ID #
  • Personal email address
  • Date of Birth
  • Which sections of the test you need to take
  • If this is your first time taking the test, or if it is a re-take
• You will receive an email with further instructions from Examity, the third-party proctoring company used by the TSI.
• For remote testing, you will need the following on the day of your test:
  • Valid state ID
  • Stable internet connection
  • Webcamera and microphone

• If you are unable test remotely due to technical problems or other issues, please contact the Testing Center at 903.565.5693 to schedule an in-person test.
