Give Today!

The University of Texas at Tyler is known for changing lives, and as a graduate, you stand as a testament to that fact. We are proud to count you among our alumni ranks because you, like so many, came here with an idea of your future in mind and worked hard to see that vision realized.

Many student success stories rely on the generosity of Patriots who preceded them. We’re proud to offer resources and technologies that allow any student, no matter their situation, to persist through college, onto the graduation stage and into their careers. But many of our crucial support services can only happen with the support of alumni like you.

We’re proud of what the School of Nursing continues to accomplish in its milestone 50th year, like multi-campus facilities expansion in Tyler and Longview, the launch of our Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia program, and continued excellence in nursing licensure exam pass rates for Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse programs.

I’m thrilled to invite you to support future generations of Patriot alumni like you by attending our 50th anniversary School of Nursing gala, scheduled for Jan. 24, 2026. All funds raised as part of the gala will be directed to our student Patriots through scholarships, faculty support and research.

Thank you,

Meet Victoria Okafor

Victoria Okafor
I was born in Sachse, Texas, and was raised in a Nigerian household where hard work, resilience and tenacity were instilled in me from a young age. What drew me to my nursing major was a deeply personal experience. My little sister, Olivia, underwent a heart transplant in December 2023, and I spent countless hours in her hospital room. The EKG machine’s rhythmic beeping and the constant flow of medical jargon created an overwhelming atmosphere, but it was the care and compassion shown by the nurses that truly captivated me. The nursing major, with a minor in psychology, provides a strong foundation in core sciences, but it also allows me to explore the emotional and mental aspects of patient care. I believe a nurse’s job is not only to treat the body but also to instill courage and a positive perspective in the patient and their family.
