Leadership Development Certificate

The Leadership Development Certificate program prepares students to apply the concepts of ethical leadership, develop and facilitate leadership development programs, and design an organization development strategy to address challenges in employee engagement. The program enables students to build leadership skills required to promote employee engagement for organizational culture and performance in diverse organizational settings.

Admission Requirements

In addition to the general graduate admission requirements of The University of Texas at Tyler, admission to the certificate program is contingent upon favorable review by the graduate committee. Admission to the certificate program requires the submission of a portfolio consisting of the following information:

  1. A baccalaureate or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.
  2. Original transcripts.
  3. The admission process is complete when the applicant has been notified of acceptance of the certificate program.

Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or greater. Upon successful completion of the approved 9 semester credit hours, students will be awarded a certificate. Credits earned in fulfillment of the Leadership Development Certificate Program may be applied to other graduate degrees in the Soules College of Business. All other graduate degree regulations and policies are applicable to the certificate program.

Required Courses (9 hours)

  • HRD 5345 - Employee Engagement
  • HRD 5350 - Leadership and Ethics in Human Resource Development
  • HRD 5352 - Organization Development

All certificates will be awarded by The University of Texas at Tyler and reflected on the student’s official transcript once conferred.
