Stephanie Simmons, PsyD, is a licensed psychologist and associate professor serving as the psychology internship program director at The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine Robert M. Rogers Department of Psychiatry. In her clinical role, she provides psychotherapy and psychological assessment for children and adolescents in outpatient settings. She is actively engaged in research projects focused on childhood trauma and behavioral management, and she oversees grants aimed at expanding the behavioral health workforce in East Texas. In addition to her work with medical trainees, she teaches master’s-level courses at UT Tyler. She is deeply committed to teaching and training future psychologists and medical residents, fostering excellence in clinical practice and education.

As a psychologist in an academic medical center, Dr. Simmons advances community mental health through teaching, research, training, and direct patient care. Her passion lies in improving access to quality mental health services in East Texas and preparing clinicians to serve underserved populations.  

Dr. Simmons earned her doctorate from Baylor University and completed her predoctoral internship in community mental health in Cincinnati, Ohio. She returned to Texas for a fellowship in pediatric psychology at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. She is licensed in Texas and is a member of the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. She specializes in child and adolescent psychology, with a focus on childhood trauma and parent management training for externalizing behaviors.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Simmons enjoys spending time with her family, kayaking, hiking, and reading.
