“I chose CAP because I have a primary interest in working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. I find it incredibly rewarding to build a relationship and potentially improve the quality of life of not only the child but their family unit as well.

I completed my residency with UT Tyler and would not have wanted to go anywhere else for CAP fellowship after working with the incredible CAP attendings over the years. This program is the perfect balance of valuing education and well-being of the fellows. I feel very confident in my clinical abilities due to being exposed to many complex and challenging cases in our clinic. I would choose this program again.”

I am grateful to havedonemy Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship at UT Tyler. From the start, the program offered a solid clinical foundation and consistent mentorship that helped me grow into a confident and well-trained child psychiatrist. The smaller class size allowed for individualized teaching and close guidance, which made a meaningful difference in my learning. I was also able to explore specific areas of interest within the field in a supportive and structured environment.

The program places real value on fellow wellness, even offering support for educational expenses and transportation when needed. The leadership is responsive and committed tomaintaininghigh standardsin both training and support. Living in Tyler turned out to be a great fit as well, providing the space and pace to focus on learning. I would confidently recommend this fellowship to anyoneseekinga comprehensive and supportive training experience in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.”

"One rotation was all it took to convince me that this was the path I needed to take. With such supportive and incredible staff, exploring this part of Psychiatry has been a pleasure! The care the attendings take to ensure the improvement in education and teach us practical skills, as well as providing excellent supervison and mentoring made me feel secure in my training."

Child and adolescent psychiatryisa dynamic field—constantly growing and evolving, much like the patients themselves. It’sa privilege to walk alongside patients and their families as they navigate the changes, challenges, and mysteries of life, and this is one of the many reasons I chose to pursue fellowship. In this program, education is both encouraged and prioritized, with consistent support from staff. This region of Texas has a significant need for psychiatric care, and I’m grateful to contribute to this vital service and work alongside exceptional mentors.
