Pre-Licensure BSN Relaunch Program

The UT Tyler School of Nursing (SON) Relaunch Program provides an opportunity for students to reenter the SON undergraduate Pre-Licensure BSN track and continue their nursing education. Students may be eligible to apply to the program if they were dismissed for non-compliance with the SON 4.9 Progression and Retention Policy.

The program is designed to support students in achieving academic success through proactive engagement, accountability, and consistent mentoring. Students who are readmitted through the Relaunch Program must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Relaunch Program Agreement.

Additional information about the Relaunch Program and application requirements are outlined in the admission requirements below.

Relaunch Program Admission Requirements:

Students must meet the following criteria to apply for the Relaunch Program:

Students applying to the Relaunch Program must have been enrolled in BSN clinical level courses in the Pre-Licensure BSN track within the previous 12 months, from the start of semester the student is applying to return.

Students applying to the Relaunch Program must not have been previously dismissed from the Pre-Licensure BSN track due to a clinical failure or due to any safety, professionalism, or integrity violation (academic or clinical). Students must not have been approved for an exception to the SON 4.9 Progression and Retention Policy; and must not have previously been readmitted to the Pre-Licensure BSN track through the Relaunch Program.

Students applying to the Relaunch Program must complete and submit the Performance Improvement Plan form, Relaunch Agreement form, and signed degree audit with their application.

Students applying to the Relaunch Program must have a Texas Board of Nursing Criminal Background Check (outcome blue care or NCLEX-RN eligibility letter) issued within the previous 12 months, from the start of the semester the student is applying to return.

Relaunch Program Enrollment & Progression Requirements

Students accepted to the Relaunch Program must maintain the following criteria to enroll and progress in the program:

Students who are readmitted into the Relaunch Program must complete a new drug test. The drug test results must be available in DISA CastleBranch by the deadline provided, before the first day of the readmission semester. A drug testing package code will be provided upon readmission.

Students who are readmitted into the Relaunch Program must maintain consecutive enrollment in the nursing program at UT Tyler each semester (fall, spring, and summer semesters) with no breaks in enrollment. Failure to enroll consecutively may result in dismissal from the program.

Students who are readmitted into the Relaunch Program must successfully pass each remaining nursing course throughout enrollment in the program. If a student is unsuccessful (receives a final grade of “D” or “F”), receives a clinical failure, voluntarily withdraws (W), or applies for and receives a university awarded “medical withdrawal” (Q), they are no longer eligible to continue and will be dismissed from the program.

Students who are readmitted into the Relaunch Program must not incur any safety, professionalism, or integrity violations (academic or clinical) at any time during enrollment. Any safety, professionalism, or integrity violations (academic or clinical) may lead to immediate dismissal from the program.
