Presidential Rose Scholar Program

A UT Tyler Presidential Rose Scholar is defined as a student who would be an exemplary representative on behalf of The University of Texas at Tyler. These students will represent UT Tyler at Presidential events, donor events, and community events including but not limited to greeting guests at Cowan Center events, grand opening ceremonies, Homecoming events, and more. These students will also assist with Presidential and UT Tyler donor events and represent UT Tyler at external community events. Ten students will be selected for this position by a committee.

The Presidential Rose Scholars are awarded a scholarship disbursement which will include all tuition, fees, housing, and stipend towards books for the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 semesters.

The full-ride scholarship* covers the following items:

  • Tuition (Statutory & Designated)
  • Mandatory Fees
  • Course Fees
  • Student Service Fees
  • On-campus housing
  • Books ($800 Allowance Per Term; To Be Used at the UT Tyler Bookstore Only)
  • Pride Meal Plan

*Full ride scholarship in combination with eligible need and merit-based aid

  3. YouTube Video Submission
  4. Faculty/Staff Recommendation 

Required Qualifications:

  1. Successful completion of at least one year at UT Tyler by the end of the spring 2026 semester (at least one fall & spring semester or one full academic year completed by the end of spring 2026) and no conduct violations within the last year.
  2. Currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at UT Tyler and plan to be enrolled for Fall 2026 & Spring 2027 semesters as a full-time undergraduate student.
  3. Minimum of 3.0 cumulative UT Tyler GPA at time of application and maintain 3.0 cumulative UT Tyler GPA in order to retain scholarship each semester.
  4. Students must maintain good academic and conduct standing at all times in order to retain the scholarship. 
  5. Submission of application in full by 11:59pm on Friday, February 20.
  6. Available for an in-person interview that will be held on the main Tyler campus between the hours of 8am and 5pm on Friday, March 20 or Thursday, April 2 (specific interview times will be communicated directly with the Presidential Rose Scholar finalists).
  7. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, leadership skills and experience, strong connection to UT Tyler, and the ability to effectively represent UT Tyler at community events.  
  8. Students are eligible to reapply if qualifications are still met for the following year.  
  9. The specific calendar of events and expectations will be given to the selected Presidential Rose Scholars at a later date.
