Dr. Kendra Bircher is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Nationally Certified
Counselor (NCC), and Certified School Counselor (CSC) in Texas. In addition to her
role as an Assistant Professor in the M.A. school counseling program, she provides
counseling to adolescents and adults in private practice. Her role as a former school
counselor informs her teaching and supervision practices. Dr. Bircher is committed
to helping her students develop culturally sustaining identities that attend to the
unique needs of the students and families they serve, empowering students to be effective
leaders and change agents in the school counseling field, and providing students with
practical strategies for advocacy in action within the school setting. Her research
is centered on K-12 educational equity and social justice advocacy, supporting the
academic and social-emotional needs of underserved youth, school counseling and disparities
in rural school settings, and instructional leadership in school counseling practice.
