Katie Dotson-Smith Memorial Endowment for Nursing

Katie had an enthusiasm for life that she brought to her work. Her students remember her as a ray of sunshine and someone who would always go the extra mile to help them make the right choices for their future. Being a nursing advisor at UT Tyler wasn’t a job to her, it was her passion. She brought her big smile and helping attitude wherever she went. Katie was a blessing to students, faculty and staff; and she is greatly missed.

In remembrance of Katie and recognizing all the lives she touched, the Student Nurses Association at UT Tyler – Palestine has partnered with her family to establish the Katie Dotson-Smith Memorial Endowment for Nursing. When fully funded, this scholarship will provide financial support to qualified UT Tyler nursing students enrolled at the Palestine Campus. Love knows no boundaries, and even though Katie may no longer physically be with us, her spirit will always remain here at UT Tyler.
