Records Retention Schedule

Records Retention Schedule

Use The University of Texas at Tyler Records Retention Schedule (RRS) to determine whether a record created by a department or employee of the University of Texas at Tyler, an official state agency, must continue to be kept, or if it can be disposed of through shredding or transfer to the University Archives.

This records retention schedule is the current, authoritative version certified by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission which supersedes all previous editions and versions. Only the retention and archival review requirements for records series listed in this version of the UT Tyler's Records Retention Schedule (750's RRS) will be adhered to when records are ready to be authorized for destruction or transfer through the disposition process.

Keys and guides to codes and notes can be found within the 750's RRS worksheet tab titled "1. Schedule Information".  Broader definitions can also be found on the Texas State Library and Archives Commission webpage for Retention Schedules for Texas State Agencies and Public Universities.

The State of Texas Records Retention Schedule also provides standard retention and archival review requirements for records common to all state agencies.

Please contact the University Archivist and designated Records Manager, Rachel Motes, at rmotes@uttyler.edu or by 903.566.7165, for further assistance with the records retention schedule.
